A woman in Missouri recently declared herself a sovereign queen and demanded the keys to a $4.7 million mansion.
Queen Makieah Ali Bay and her husband Rehan Keyaan Alui Bey filed a claim with the St. Louis County Recorder of Deeds last summer, claiming to be the rightful owners of the mansion. They sent a letter to the owners demanding they vacate the premises within 10 days.
But, as it turns out, you can’t just claim to be royalty and demand peoples’ homes. Ali Bay – better known as 28-year-old Lakresha Slaughter – is apparently part of the sovereign citizens movement, members of which are supposedly known to forge documents including fake liens, deeds and property claims.
According to the FBI, there are more than 100,000 of these would-be property thieves, most of them living in Florida.
Still, if this trend catches on, we dibs the headquarters for Candy Crush game-makers, King – they have swings and trampolines!
