Financial services isn’t an industry often lauded for its diversity, but one leading mortgage company is looking to change that reputation.
New American Funding has been recognized by Fortune and Great Places to Work as one of the country’s top workplaces for diversity.
“We’re passionate about diversity and inclusion. It’s at the heart of what we do at New American Funding. It’s built into our culture’s DNA,” said Co-Founder and President Patty Arvielo. “Therefore, we count it a tremendous honor to be acknowledged by Fortune for creating an outstanding work environment for all employees.”
New American placed #42 in the nation on the third annual list.
Its ranking was based on employee feedback and the diversity of its workforce.
The companies on the list were evaluated based on treatment of their employees, advancement opportunity, and access to senior leadership.
Of the New American Employees surveyed, 97% say the company has a great atmosphere.
“(President) Arvielo, a long-time diversity champion, has successfully established a company that’s 43% minority and 58% women with many holding C-level positions,” New American said in a release. “She has developed a culture where diverse groups have the opportunity to advance through an initiative known as, ‘If you want to grow, we want to know.’ She also invests time in helping women progress in their career through her quarterly mentorship program.”
