The rash of banker deaths this year has sent a shudder through Wall Street, and the latest death of an ING banker makes 36 in 2014. The body of Belgian Geert Tack, a 52-year-old private banker for ING, was found off the coast of Ostend. Tack managed the portfolios of wealthy individuals, and his death is surrounded by riddles, according to ZeroHedge.
The Belgian had a lot of respect in the financial world and his sudden disappearance was a shock. "If Tack himself was having trouble he has managed to keep it well hidden", colleagues told the media outlet.
In October, news broke that two prominent bankers, Calogero Gambino, a senior Deutsche Bank regulatory lawyer, and Thierry Leyne, the French-Israeli entrepreneur had taken their lives. The two deaths came more than seven months after about a dozen bankers committed suicide between January and March.
