Users can determine commute time from home to work
Realtor.com has launched a new Commute Time Filter on its app that allows buyers to look for homes during rush-hour and off-peak commute times.
The new filter aims to help buyers understand how long it will take to drive to and from work before closing the deal on a home. Users can enter a basic search of features and locations on the iOS app and filter listings that work with their preferred commute time, which comes in 10- to 60-minute increments.
Buyers would rather give up various home amenities to save their time and energy in a shorter commute, according to Realtor.com’s recent survey. In fact, 85% of the respondents said that they would compromise lot size, square footage, and style of the home to cut their commute time. Additionally, 40% wanted to reduce their time on the road by 45 minutes.
"At realtor.com, our goal is [to] go beyond helping consumers search for listings by providing them with the tools and information to make decisions about which homes are right for them," said Realtor.com Chief Product Officer Chung Meng Cheong. "Our commute time filter is different from than others in the marketplace because it gives buyers the ability to toggle between rush hour and off-peak commute times. With a more holistic view of their drive to and from work, people are able to make more informed decisions about where to live, and hopefully reduce some unnecessary stress from their daily lives'."
The Commute Time Filter is currently available on iOS only. However, Realtor.com announced plans of expanding its Android app and its website.
