Wells Fargo also appoints new chief information security officer
Wells Fargo has named Steve Hagerman as head of consumer lending technology, as well as Gary Owen as chief information security officer and head of information security.
Hagerman joined Wells Fargo from JPMorgan Chase, where he was chief technology officer, managing director, and head of home lending originations technology. He was responsible for the bank’s first mortgage, home equity, and correspondent lending platforms.
Over his 17 years at JPMorgan Chase, Hagerman held various senior leadership positions in technology, including chief technology officer of customer service operations, chief technology officer of consumer and community banking, and head of consumer branch and ATM infrastructure.
In his new role, Hagerman will support Wells Fargo’s “new and emerging platforms.” He will start working in early August and will report to Saul Van Beurden, head of technology.
Owen will also report to Van Beurden. As chief information security officer, he will maintain and continue to “enhance Wells Fargo’s comprehensive risk and information security framework.” Owen will also lead information security strategy and governance, identity and access management, security engineering, line-of-business engagement, as well as cyber defense and monitoring.
With nearly 30 years of experience, he previously worked as chief information security officer at WarnerMedia, formerly known as Time Warner, where he was responsible for global security strategy, technology risk management, and information protection and compliance. Owen will assume his position on May 31.
