Leadership revamp to fuel the firm's expansion goals
Commercial real estate firm M&T Realty Capital Corporation (M&T RCC) has announced significant changes in its leadership structure to support its growth strategy.
Michael Edelman (pictured left) is set to take the helm as president, succeeding Michael Berman (pictured right), who will transition to an executive advisor role. Both will continue to report to Tim Gallagher, head of commercial real estate at M&T Bank, with Berman retaining his position on M&T RCC's board.
"Michael Edelman's experience and leadership will be instrumental in driving our initiatives within M&T RCC," Gallagher said in a media release. "In his new role as executive advisor, Michael Berman will continue contributing invaluable insight, driving M&T RCC's continued success.”
Edelman, who joined M&T in 2016 and has served as president since February 2022, brings over 25 years of experience in commercial real estate finance, having facilitated transactions totaling over $6 billion throughout his career.
"I am honored to lead this team as we expand access to capital markets and grow our strategic partnerships," said Edelman. "M&T RCC has seen significant success under Michael Berman's leadership, and I look forward to our continued work together and exploring new opportunities in the next phase of our business."

In addition to these executive changes, M&T RCC has also appointed Mark Gould and Joe Pizzutelli as co-heads of national production.
Gould will be responsible for managing relationships with key financiers like Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, advancing the partnership with Marcus and Millichap, and pursuing new growth initiatives. Meanwhile, Pizzutelli's role will focus on enhancing existing partnerships and forging new ones within M&T Bank's commercial real estate and investment banking sectors.
Kevin Collins joined M&T RCC Life Company as platform manager, overseeing production, managing relationships with capital sources, and expanding the Life Company platform. Don Pettit, the preceding manager, will assist Collins during the transition.
