Company readies for smooth transition in leadership
Angel Oak Capital Advisors has made some changes to its portfolio management structure, including two key promotions.
The firm has announced the appointment of Namit Sinha as chief investment officer and Clayton Triick as head of portfolio management of public strategies, effective March 31.
Sinha, who has served as the CIO of Angel Oak’s private strategies division since February 2020, will lead its public and private investment strategies alongside co-CEO and group CIO Sreeni Prabhu. He was head of mortgage strategies for nearly six years before being promoted as CIO of private strategies in 2020.
Meanwhile, Triick will oversee a team of portfolio managers and analysts dedicated to the company’s public strategies. He will also serve as a portfolio manager for all mutual funds, ETFs, and interval funds. Triick has been with Angel Oak for over 12 years and most recently served as senior portfolio manager.
“Namit will serve as an excellent CIO for Angel Oak Capital Advisors and brings valuable insight from the private strategies side that will be instrumental in leading the full investment management team and charting the investment landscape for 2024 and beyond,” Prabhu said in a press release. “Our vision was to create a more integrated investment management platform where the best minds of Angel Oak can work together for the benefit of our clients, and Namit will be exemplary in unlocking that potential.”
These organizational updates are in anticipation of the planned departures of co-CIO Sam Dunlap, who oversees public strategies, and senior portfolio manager Colin McBurnette, who is scheduled for the second half of 2024. Angel Oak is preparing for a collaborative transition to ensure continuity in its investment process and client experience.

“We’re extremely appreciative of Sam’s and Colin’s dedication to growing Angel Oak for more than a decade, as they’ve helped turn Angel Oak into a global leader in structured credit solutions,” said Prabhu. “The transition period will ensure continuity in our investment process and client experience, and we are excited for what the future holds for our firm as we continue to deliver on our investment objectives for clients and deliver new and innovative investment strategies.”
