Move supports the company's strategy to expand in both the agency and non-QM markets
Non-QM lender Angel Oak Home Loans has brought on industry veteran Steven Valladares (pictured) to help grow its correspondent channel as vice president of correspondent sales.
In this role, Valladares will head the creation and implementation of the company’s sales infrastructure to support its internal and external sales teams. Angel Oak said it has been developing and refining its process to offer a “one-stop-shop” to both agency and non-QM lenders.

Brynn Stensrud, executive vice president of correspondent lending, commented on the appointment: “We are thrilled to be adding someone to our team with as much experience and expertise in the mortgage sales industry as Steven has. We look forward to working alongside him to strengthen our existing client relationships while making many more and bringing Angel Oak’s competitive pricing and renowned infrastructure to a wider audience at a time when it is most needed in the market.”
Valladares, who has more than three decades of mortgage experience, joined Angel Oak from Wells Fargo, where he previously served as vice president of national lender development. Before that, he worked as a senior capital markets account manager at Fannie Mae.
“I am excited to be part of the growing sales team at Angel Oak, where we will continue to provide excellent support to our lender partners, especially in this unique market environment,” Valladares said. “Angel Oak’s leadership in the non-qualified mortgage market is indicative of what’s to come as we expand in the agency space as well. Angel Oak will act as a multifaceted correspondent capable of satisfying the needs of the massive agency market as well as non-QM.”
