Lender's efforts in helping families buy homes in rural communities earn praise
Non-QM lender Union Home Mortgage (UHM) revealed that it was recognized as one of the top five lenders for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development’s Single Family Housing Guaranteed Loan Program in Michigan.
UHM ranked fourth in terms of loan volume in 2021 – the company’s third year qualifying for the recognition. The USDA program helps lenders reach potential home buyers in rural areas. It provides applicants with mortgage options that require no money down when purchasing a primary residence.

“Our UHM partners are committed to ensuring homeownership is accessible to our customers, and this program plays a pivotal role in ensuring that for eligible families,” said Mike Jones, national sales manager at UHM. “We value our partnership with the USDA and share its vision for fostering thriving communities.”
According to a release, the distinction helped UHM grab the number nine spot in the national rankings, up one spot from 2020. UHM claimed a top-five spot in three additional Midwestern states (Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia) in the same USDA Rural Development loan program category. In addition, UHM has been awarded a Top Workplace title eight years in a row.
