Move is part of the organization's long-term plan
The Association of Independent Mortgage Experts (AIME) has named the members of its new senior leadership team after bringing on Tom Ahles as president of growth last month.
Jamie Cavanaugh joins AIME’s leadership team as vice president of outreach, Mike Cox as vice president of education, and Janine Kempfer as vice president of impact. In a statement, AIME said that the new additions will be instrumental in establishing its “long-term leadership structure and exemplifying AIME’s mission.”

“By expanding the leadership team with AIME members, our organization can better serve the entirety of the broker community,” said Katie Sweeney, chief executive officer of AIME. “Each of the additional vice presidents is an advocate for the wholesale mortgage industry and fully dedicated to building a thriving business, leading with integrity, and creating a culture of empowerment for our channel.”
Cavanaugh is a long-term AIME member and the current president of Amerifund Home Loans. With 25 years of mortgage industry experience, she will lead the organization’s recruitment efforts, identify new engagement opportunities, and promote AIME’s benefits to prospective members and partners.
“Jamie has a high-producing, well-established mortgage brokerage that has deep relationships throughout our industry. She is a sought-after speaker and a popular panelist for mortgage conferences and has spoken at AIME events, including Fuse and Hall of AIME,” said Brendan McKay, president of advocacy. “She has previously appeared on a number of well-known industry podcasts and is an active member of the Women’s Mortgage Network. Because of her connection with the community and her authority in our industry, she is the ideal fit for the position of vice president of outreach.”
Meanwhile, Mortgage Nerds owner Mike Cox will spearhead outreach efforts to educate the broker community on industry knowledge. The 20-year mortgage veteran will also help AIME promote the wholesale channel to future homebuyers and current homeowners, said AIME president of membership Marc Summers.
Kempfer, broker and owner of Prime Mortgage, will be at the forefront of promoting how brokers are the best option for underserved communities. She is also a franchise business consultant, helping those interested in owning a business discover the perfect venture for them.
“As vice president of impact, Janine will preserve the wholesale channel by offering comprehensive service and support to the broker channel’s progress,” said Tom Ahles, president of growth. “She will work to recruit talent from outside industries and promote the benefits of the channel as the best option for consumers and brokers.”
