Executive brings vast experience in the retail mortgage sector
Jim Linnane (pictured), a former Stearns Lending executive, has joined Flagstar Bank as the president of the company’s distributed retail mortgage business.
The 29-year mortgage veteran will be in charge of the strategy, sales, growth, recruitment, and operations of Flagstar’s distributed retail mortgage division.The bank said that Linnane’s industry experience is “broad and deep, including mortgage origination, marketing, underwriting, construction lending, home equity products and wholesale financing.”

“Jim is an industry veteran who has extensive experience running distributed retail operations, both in a bank and non-bank environment,” said Lee Smith, president of mortgage for Flagstar. “He’s a results-oriented team-builder with a demonstrated ability to grow people and organizations. We’re excited to have him on board and look for positive developments with Jim at the helm of Flagstar’s distributed retail operation.”
Before making the switch to Flagstar, Linnane was the chief production officer of Proper Rate. Prior to that, he served as the national retail president of Stearns Lending for over four years. Lennane also spent more than 15 years at Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, where he held various leadership positions.
