Sky News reported that Kingman will step down from the Treasury “within the coming weeks” and has been approached to take over from John Stewart at L&G.
Legal & General are in talks to hire the Treasury’s acting permanent secretary John Kingman as chairman according to reports.
Sky News reported that Kingman will step down from the Treasury “within the coming weeks” and has been approached to take over from John Stewart at L&G.
The Times made Kingman "frontrunner" for the £340,000 three-day-a-week post and The Telegraph claimed he has been selected by L&G’s board.
Before making the move Kingman has to wait on approval from the Prudential Regulation Authority.
If appointed he will reportedly take a non-executive director position before becoming chairman.
Kingman was heavily involved in bailing out Lloyds Banking Group and the Bank of Scotland at the peak of the financial crisis.
