Given that the impact of the floods will be felt for many months, C&G has focused on providing practical and financial measures to give customers more flexibility and ease the pressure on the family budget in this difficult time.
C&G customers whose homes have been damaged or income has been lost as a result of the floods can call a dedicated helpline for advice on simple changes they can make to their mortgage. Experts will talk customers through the options that are available to them, either to reduce their monthly payments or to borrow further money to help with repairs and fund the costs of getting their homes and lives back to normal. The usual fees for borrowing more or rearranging their mortgage will not be charged
The C&G Flood Assistance Helpline number is 0800 585 432 and will operate 8.30am-8.30pm Monday to Friday and 8.30am-1.00pm on Saturday.
Mike Mitchell, customer services director at C&G, said: "We will help our customers at this difficult time. Talking to customers over the last couple of weeks, and from the first hand experience we've had here in Gloucestershire, it's clear that people have been affected in all sorts of ways. By making some simple changes to their mortgage, we can take the worry away and help our customers free up some cash or borrow more money so they can pay repair bills.
"Many of our staff have been directly affected by the floods and are keen to do all they can, not just to help customers but also the local community. A number of staff have joined a volunteer service, coordinated by The Red Cross to support local flood victims."
