The duo have raised £720 for the YMCA's safe housing programme so far.
Jannie Vermeulen and Stefan Terblanche (pictured) from Fleet Mortgages took part in the annual YMCA’s ‘Sleep Easy’ event in Guildford on Friday 24 March.
Vermeulen, chief risk officer, and Terblanche, head of IT, took part in the event to raise funds and awareness for the YMCA’s safe housing programme.
Sleep Easy is run annually by the YMCA’s Downslink Group, and this year took place in three South East locations - Guildford, Brighton & Hove, and Horsham.
Vermeulen said: “I was there when we did the first YMCA Sleep Easy event many years ago have been hooked ever since.
“For one night I give up my comfortable surroundings, and a warm, soft bed to raise money and create awareness.
“Doing this makes me appreciate what I have in life; it means as much to me as for those that receive the benefits from this event.
“Homelessness is a growing problem and whatever I can do to help, I will.”
Terblanche added: “A combination of things form part of our everyday life. Some are necessities and other luxuries and no doubt some of it I take for granted.
“It’s only when you experience the lack of necessities first hand that it helps you develop a real appreciation for the comforts you have.
“I’ve done this again to raise money to help homeless people and to develop a fresh appreciation for the things I sometimes take for granted.”
