Experienced brokers and intermediaries have found that the examination syllabus has little in common with their day-to-day work, being mainly theoretical and heavily biased towards the work of lenders, said FMO.
Pressure is mounting to pass the three papers of the Certificate of Mortgage Advice and Practice, because advisers who are not fully qualified by 31 December this year will not be able to advise on mortgages without supervision. For many, this will dramatically impact on their ability to continue their business.
There will be a two-day course covering CeMAP Paper 1 and a further two-day course for CeMAP Papers 2 & 3.
The course is priced at £150 per person per day (which compares with costs of up to £400 per day from some organisations). For FMO members, there is a 33 per cent discount, and both prices include a full course folder, refreshments and lunch. Accommodation can be provided at a modest extra cost.
The courses will be run by David Espin, an experienced broker and trainer, who is the Training and Compliance Manager for First Mortgage Options Ltd. They are sure to be very popular and places will be limited.
