Young will provide a new perspective on the intermediary mortgage lending market based on his wide ranging experience of the sector, and help IMLA represent the views of UK mortgage lenders who originate their business via financial intermediaries more effectively. His appointment flows from an election conducted within the IMLA membership. All four IMLA directors sit as members of the Council of Mortgage Lenders' executive committee and are directly responsible for running IMLA in conjunction with the executive director.
Guy Batchelor, chairman of IMLA, said: “It is with great pleasure that we welcome Bob to IMLA. He brings a wealth of experience following ten years at chl mortgages, as well as previous senior management and consultancy roles in financial services. His considerable knowledge of the mortgage industry will be invaluable in representing the interests of IMLA’s expanding membership, and keeping its membership focus.”
IMLA would also like to express its appreciation of the contribution made by John Maltby during his time as director of the association, whose resignation triggered the election.
