Real estate agents and brokers from 60 countries are attending the 45th annual RE/MAX conference in Las Vegas this week
Real estate agents and brokers from 60 countries are attending the 45th annual RE/MAX conference in Las Vegas this week.
The network, which has more than 115,000 agents worldwide, is looking back over the almost half a century that it has been operating; and looking forward to the future for the real estate industry.
"Over the last 45 years, the RE/MAX network has grown from one agent to more than 115,000," RE/MAX CEO Adam Contos told the crowd attending the Opening General Session.
The network added 7,000 new real estate agents in 2017, a rise of 6.4% from 2016. The agent count in the US and Canada increased 17.8%.
"Today we celebrate our roots and share plans on how we will continue to move our global real estate network forward. It's because of you that we can once again say…no one in the world sells more real estate than RE/MAX," added Contos.
The positive tone belied the conclusion of a recent internal investigation which concluded that personal transactions between former CEO David Liniger and former COO Adam Contos created an actual or apparent conflict of interest.
"Although the loan, gifts, and other transactions between the Linigers and Adam Contos did not involve use of any corporate funds, the special committee concluded that these transactions created an actual or apparent conflict of interest,” Lead Independent Director Dick Covey said.
