The online lender has announced the opening of a new office in Charlotte, N.C. – and plans to hire 1,000 employees to staff it
Online mortgage lender Better.com has announced that it will hire 1,000 people to staff a newly opened office in Charlotte, N.C.
Vishal Garg, founder and CEO of Better.com, said the company will hire 100 employees by the end of the year and 1,000 over the next five years. The new office will serve as a hub for the partnership between Better.com and Ally Financial, according to a report by The Charlotte Observer.
Starting salaries for the jobs will range from $65,000 to $100,000, according to the Observer.
Garg told the publication that Charlotte’s talented financial-services workforce was a major factor in the decision to open the office there.
“We think there’s just this very large group of people that probably before would leave Charlotte to go to work at a fintech in New York or San Francisco,” he said. “Instead, they can stay here, enjoy all the benefits of living in Charlotte … and still work for a very fast-growing company.”
Better.com funds $450 million in mortgages each month, the Observer reported. The company has grown from about 200 employees last year to about 800 now.
