The execs will work together on a range of housing finance policy issues
The Housing Policy Council (HPC) has announced some changes in its mortgage team: promoting mortgage veteran Meg Burns to executive vice president and appointing Matthew Douglas as vice president of mortgage policy.
Burns has led HPC's mortgage policy work since joining the company in 2017 – covering the full range of housing finance issues for the council. In her new role, she will lead the HPC staff on all policy-related, government affairs, and membership engagement concerns.
“Meg’s thought leadership on all matter of housing finance issues has earned her a tremendous community of supporters, from industry to advocates to government agency officials,” HPC President Ed DeMarco said. “In her expanded role, she will continue to be a leading voice in the housing finance industry for policies that are economically sound, protect and promote consumer interests, and allow private companies to flourish under rules that are equitable, transparent, and balanced.”
Burns has spent almost 25 years of her career in federal service, holding leadership positions at the Federal Housing Administration (FHA), where she served as director of the Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) Office of Single Family Program Development, and at the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), where she was a senior associate director in FHFA's Office of Housing and Regulatory Policy.
Douglas has nearly 10 years of experience. He most recently worked as an assistant program manager at FHFA's Office of Housing and Community Investment. Douglas also served in various policy roles at HUD, including postings with FHA, Ginnie Mae, and the Office of Native American Programs, after joining the federal government as a Presidential Management Fellow.
“Matt will be a tremendous asset for HPC” DeMarco said. “His extensive knowledge, policy skills, strong professional relationships, and reputation for hard work will be invaluable in his policy advocacy role. We are thrilled to have him as the newest member of the HPC team.”
