Mortgage industry celebrates the best in the business
The most anticipated event on the mortgage and finance industry’s calendar – the Australian Mortgage Awards – once again delivered a night of celebration, glamour and networking as a who’s who of sector leaders gathered to honour the 2024 awards winners.
The 2024 Australian Mortgage Awards, held on Friday, October 18, at The Star Event Centre in Sydney, attracted the largest crowd in 10 years, with 800 people in attendance.
Mortgage and finance brokers, BDMs, aggregators, third-party leaders from banks and non-banks, and other industry representatives gathered for the black-tie event, run by Key Media, with support from Australian Broker and Mortgage Professional Australia.
The 23rd annual AMAs, honoured top industry performers in 27 categories, covering brokers and brokerages, BDMs, lenders, mortgage managers and aggregators. More than 200 excellence awardees (finalists) were vying for the top awards.
AMAs 2024 attendees were treated to a fantastic performance from Australian pop singer and songwriter Ricki Lee. Comedian and radio and TV presenter Merrick Watts emceed the awards.
Awards receive strong industry support
Westpac Group head of mortgage broker distribution Warren Shaw (pictured below) said Westpac was proud to be the event partner for the 2024 Australian Mortgage Awards for the 16th consecutive year.
“The awards provide a great opportunity to come together and celebrate the outstanding achievements of those in the mortgage broking Industry and reflect on another big year,” Shaw said.

As the premier event in the mortgage industry, the 2024 Australian Mortgage Awards also received the sport of premium partners NAB and PRPTY360.

Awards were presented to the top lenders and aggregators, as well as BDMs, mortgage managers and industry partners.
Lender awards
In the lender categories, Bankwest won Infinity Capital Financial Group Bank of the Year, while Pepper Money was awarded Rate Money Non-Bank of the Year. Pepper Money general manager, mortgages and commercial lending Barry Saoud is pictured above left.
RedZed Fintech Lender of the Year went to Athena Home Loans, while Rate Money won the Keystone Capital Mortgage Manager of the Year.
Aggregator awards
LMG took out MSA National Aggregator of the Year. LMG executive chairman Sam White is pictured above right.
Purple Circle Financial Services won MyState Bank Boutique Aggregator of the Year.
AMAs 2024 broker winners
Awards were presented to brokers across six categories.
Alvie Oliveira of Capta Financial won FBAA Broker of the Year – Residential, while Belinda Caesar of BC Finance won NAB Broker of the Year – Regional.
La Trobe Financial Broker of the Year – Commercial was awarded to Jean-Pierre Gortan from Simplicity Loans & Advisory (pictured above second from left), and the Equity-One Broker of the Year – Productivity award was presented to The Australian Lending & Investment Centre’s Mark Davis.
Michael Maiolo of The Melbourne Mortgage Company received the Pepper Money Broker of the Year – Specialist Lending award, while Bendigo Bank Broker Young Gun of the Year went to Jayden Brown of Harrow & Co.
National award Westpac Australian Broker of the Year is chosen from the winners of these categories: Broker of the Year – Commercial; Broker of the Year – Residential; Broker of the Year – Productivity; Broker of the Year – Regional; and Broker of the Year – Specialist Lending.
Jean-Pierre Gortan (Simplicity Loans & Advisory) won Westpac Australian Broker of the Year 2024 award for the second consecutive year.
AMAs 2024 brokerage winners
There were seven awards up for grabs in the brokerage categories.
The Australian Lending & Investment Centre won PRPTY360 Brokerage of the Year – Diversification; while Go Mortgage took out ANZ Brokerage of the Year – Regional.
Bayside Residential and Commercial Mortgages, led by managing director Kevin Wheatley (pictured above, second from right), won MFAA Brokerage of the Year (1-5 Staff). Resimac Brokerage of the Year (6-20 Staff) was awarded to Infinity Group Australia.
Azura Financial won Commonwealth Bank Brokerage of the Year (>20 Staff) and Aria Mortgage Brokers received Bankwest New Brokerage of the Year.
Infinity Group Australia also won Bluestone Home Loans Best Customer Service from an Individual Office.
Liberty Australian Brokerage of the Year is a national award that is chosen from excellence awardees in these categories: Brokerage of the Year (1-5 staff); Brokerage of the Year (6-20 staff); Brokerage of the Year (Over 20 staff); Brokerage of the Year – Diversification; Brokerage of the Year – Regional and New Brokerage of the Year.
Bayside Residential and Commercial Mortgages won the Liberty Australian Brokerage of the Year.
