Don't miss out on industry event of the year
Nominations are now open for the 2022 Australian Mortgage Awards, in what will be the first live event in three years.
To be held on 14 October at The Fullerton, Sydney, the event is your opportunity to recognise and celebrate success across the mortgage finance industry.
Considered the most celebrated and prestigious awards night on the calendar, the Australian Mortgage Awards have long been revered by the industry. The evening encompasses a pre-awards cocktail reception, red carpet, dinner banquet, live entertainment and awards ceremony.
The AMAs are an opportunity to recognise success within the industry, and to see high achievers celebrated on the national stage.
Organised by Key Media, and supported by Mortgage Professional Australia and Australian Broker, the awards will again have the backing of event partner Westpac. Sponsors also include Adelaide Bank, BOQ Broker, CBA, MFAA, Dye & Durham, Equity-One, FBAA, La Trobe Financial, Liberty, Mortgage Choice, MSA National, NextGen, Prime Capital, and Resimac.
Nominations can be made across 25 categories, covering broker, brokerage, industry, aggregator, BDM and lender awards. From the winners, there will be two national awards given out – Westpac Australian Broker of the Year and Liberty Australian Brokerage of the Year.
At the 2021 Australian Mortgage Awards, Bankwest won the coveted Bank of the Year title, as well as the award for Most Effective Digital Strategy – Lender.
Speaking to Key Media after winning Bank of the Year 2021, Bankwest general manager third party banking Ian Rakhit (pictured above) said he was “very proud” of the recognition received by Bankwest.
“To be rated so highly by brokers means a great deal to me and my colleagues who work every day to support brokers,” Rakhit said. “Bankwest strives to be the best broker bank in the country, and we are as committed as ever to backing our brokers to deliver the services, tools and support they want and need, to make their jobs and dealing with us as easy as possible.”
Ahead of the 2022 event, Rakhit reflected on winning Bank of the Year last year, telling MPA Bankwest’s goal is to be the best bank for brokers in the country.
“So to receive that recognition makes me very proud, but not for the award itself – for the fact that it reflects our team’s passion, commitment, and genuine collaboration with our crucial broker network” Rakhit said.
“We want every Bankwest customer to have the best possible experience, no matter how they come to us, which is why providing the tools, processes and services that brokers need and want is so important to us.”
Being recognised for Most Effective Digital Strategy – Lender for two consecutive years is a direct reflection of the collaborative relationship between Bankwest and brokers, he said.
The tools and services provided in the Bankwest broker hub reflect brokers’ wants and needs, which they supported Bankwest to deliver.
“The Bankwest Broker Portal remains a priority for us, and we’ll continue to invest in the tools and features that support brokers dealing with new and existing customers, because we want every customer experience to be a positive one,” Rakhit said.
Within the Bankwest Broker Portal, brokers can lodge and track new applications – and view existing loans.
“This means brokers can now use the repricing tool to self-serve the best possible interest rate for customers on the spot, which helps Bankwest retain customers, brokers provide an efficient experience, and customers to get the best deal available,” Rakhit said.
For organisations nominated for the Australian Mortgage Awards in 2022, Rakhit suggests they view the awards as a valuable form of feedback, rather than a desire for credit, or pat on the back.
“There’s a saying in sport that ‘you’re never as bad as they say you are, and you’re never as good as you think you are’, Rakhit said.
“The feedback received from brokers through these awards – even simply by how they vote – can be an invaluable gauge on the value you’re delivering to those you’re trying to support.”
