Limited seats left for Australian Mortgage Awards 2024

It’s the hottest ticket in town, but you’d better get in quick if you want to attend the most prestigious event of 2024 – the Australian Mortgage Awards.

The annual black-tie event, which attracts the creme de la crème of the mortgage and finance industry, will be held on Friday, October 18, at The Star Event Centre in Pyrmont, Sydney.

A record number of 750 attendees have already booked their places and there are limited spots available for both groups and individuals. It will be the best attended AMAs event in the past 10 years.

You can register for the 2024 Australian Mortgage Awards here.

The night of glamour will be headlined by Australian pop icon Ricki Lee (pictured below left), who will perform some of her hits. Much-loved comedian Merrick Watts (pictured below right), who was MC in 2023, is back to lead proceedings.

Acoustic duo Dusk will also perform, while DJ Mimi will get attendees up on the dancefloor at the FINSTREET post awards event after party.

2024 AMAs attract strong industry support

Brokers, brokerages, BDMs, lenders, aggregators and mortgage managers will be recognised across 25 award categories, culminating in the two major national awards – Westpac Australian Broker of the Year and Liberty Australian Brokerage of the Year.

The Australian Mortgage Awards continues to receive incredible backing from the industry, with all award categories sponsored for the second year in a row.

Now in its 23rd year, the AMAs are run by Key Media and supported by Mortgage Professional Australia and Australian Broker. Westpac will serve as the event partner for the 16th consecutive year.

“Australians trust and value the independent service mortgage brokers provide,” said Westpac Group head of mortgage broker distribution Warren Shaw said (pictured below). “We support and celebrate this as we come together to recognise an industry of hard-working and high-achieving professionals at this year’s AMAs.”

NAB and PRPTY 360 are premium partners of the AMAs.

The award sponsors include ANZ, Bankwest, Bendigo Bank, Bluestone Home Loans, Commonwealth Bank, Equity-One, FBAA, Firstmac, Infinity Capital Financial Group, Keystone Capital, La Trobe Financial, Liberty, MFAA, Mortgage Choice, Mortgage Street, MSA National, MyState Bank, Pepper Money, Rate Money, RedZed, Resimac,  So Money and Sprnt.

FINSTREET is the post awards event sponsor, while FinSecure is the feature act sponsor. Maxiron is the social media sponsor, while MA Money is the photobooth sponsor and PRPTY360 is the champagne sponsor.

Excellence awardees thrilled to be nominated

Among the Australian Mortgage Awards 2024 excellence awardees (finalists) are Bankwest in the Infinity Capital Financing Group Bank of the Year. Bankwest is also an AMAs sponsor.

Bankwest general manager third party Ian Rakhit (pictured above left) said Bankwest was accelerating investment in the digital and broker channels its customers chose.

“Our broker partners are a critical part of our ambition to be Australia’s favourite digital bank,” Rakhit said.

“We strive to be the best bank for brokers in the country, delivering simple, value-driven products and services and our nomination for Bank of the Year reflects our genuine commitment to listening to and working with our critical broker network.”

Rakhit said the broking community was so significant to Bankwest that it formed a key pillar in its strategy, as it strove to help more Australians into their own homes.

“It’s important to recognise those setting the benchmark for the industry. We work in an industry that never sleeps, with new customers every day requiring a place to call home, which means it is important when we have the opportunity to pause, reflect on, and celebrate the successes achieved over the year.”

Mortgage Choice is an excellence awardee in the MSA National Aggregator of the Year category and also the Sprnt Best Industry Marketing Campaign.

CEO of Mortgage Choice, Anthony Waldron (pictured above, second from right) said being nominated in these two categories at the Australian Mortgage Awards 2024 was an enormous privilege.

“These awards are recognition of the power of the Mortgage Choice brand, dedication of Mortgage Choice brokers and our corporate support teams around the country who work tirelessly to help Australians realise their property ownership dreams,”  Waldron said.

He said the company was honoured to be sponsoring the Mortgage Choice Best Non-Bank BDM award.

“BDMs are valued partners for mortgage brokers, and a vital sounding board when brokers are navigating complex lending scenarios and changes in lender policy. The expertise and support of BDMs plays an important role in brokers’ ability to deliver exceptional customer experiences.”

MyState Bank BDMs Sally Breeze (pictured above, second from left) and Zach Johnston (pictured above, far right) are excellence awardees in the So Money Best Non-Major Bank BDM.

Breeze said everyone knew how challenging being a BDM could be, but it was also extremely rewarding building strong relationships within the industry.

“This nomination is truly amazing,” said Breeze. “I am honoured, humbled and very proud to be a part of the MyState family for the past 16.5 years.

“I am lucky to have a job that I love and I have so much respect for everyone I work with and all of our brokers who support me. It really is a wonderful feeling to know that I am appreciated and it makes all that we do worthwhile.”

Breeze said the awards provided a fantastic platform recognising everyone in the industry for their contributions and extremely hard work, including brokers, support staff, lenders, BDMs and aggregators. “Everyone plays such an important part.”

Johnston said the nomination meant a lot to him and was a recognition of the collaboration, time and support that he exchanged between his team and his brokers.

“I enjoy helping my brokers grow and thrive, so the fact that one of my brokers took the time to nominate me means the world,” he said.

Johnston described the AMAs as important because they held lenders, BDMs and colleagues to a high standard, and as a reminder “to push each other to be better.

“Being a finalist of the AMAs should be an indicator that the BDMs are living those values and standards, when taking care of our brokers and also their customers,” said Johnson.

MyState Bank is also a supporter and sponsor of the Australian Mortgage Awards.

General manager lending Tim Newman said it was important to recognise success in mortgage broking, an industry that the majority of Australians relied on when buying a home.
